SOVIET SWORD

I love this Soviet/ Bulgarian Mobil space truck by Straume on Ebay.

There's just something appealing about its design.

The coffin style box is so familiar as well to Western toy collectors.

the body is made of thin plastic set over a harder chassis. It must be fragile.

It could even pass as Soviet Project SWORD!

The listing includes pics of more Soviet space toys; two Lunokhods and a Big Trak!

I wonder widespread such toys were in the old Soviet Union? Were they available everywhere across the bloc?

ARCHERS? NO. ASTRONAUTS!

This bag of Archer type spacemen caught my eye. The header card is striking and unusual. I've seen the ship before but I can't think where. I did think it was home-made at first but it says Made in Hing Kong in the bottom left corner. Its just unusually uncluttered for a header and lacks much lettering of any kind except for Astronauts.

KNEELING, NOT STOOD!

I tried to get Junior's scuba action man to stand like James in Thunderball but his legs couldn't do it!

I had to opt for the kneeling shot.

I've been messing with Junior's lego this Easter whilst he stays away.

Here's a Thunderbird 2 take-off with lego plume!

I tried the opposite with the lego pouring out of the pod too!

What can you do with lego?

Hi Woodsy,

I hope all is well at Moonbase Central. I have been enjoying all the posts. Happy Easter.

Regarding the recent posts on Spanish money boxes, here are a few plastic boxes that I have had since the 1960s (or perhaps early 1970s). 

All were issued by local banks. None have an opening for removing coins, and would have to be cut open.

The gold Astronaut is standing on the lunar surface. The names of various seas are moulded in - the Sea of Tranquility is on the back. There is a paper label on the front of his chest, this is for the C.B.A. BANK, which was the Commercial Bank of Australia.

 The coin slot is in his backpack. Moulded on are the instructions 'take me to the commercial savings bank when full. Bank your savings & receive a new spaceman free'. 

Height is 144 mm. I would assume there were other colours. 

I also have a rather basic rocket, but can not find this at the moment.
