I've finished my donated JR21 Thunderbird 2!

At least for now!

It's been a great fun distraction during lockdown!

I quite like its wings and the pod door.

The rear red nacelle worked well too.

I'm not too chuffed with the legs though and the white poster paint isn't great.

I'll order some white Humbrol and re-do the legs next week.

I'm leaving the lettering as I quite like the weathered look. 

I wonder if you can get Letraset in the same lettering though?

I finished it off with an old JR21 Landrover I found in the attic, which I thought I'd lost. Its missing its windscreen but that's OK.

Its been a lot of fun fixing up this TB2. I've enjoyed it a lot.

If I ever do up another Thunderbird toy I'll try some different things.

INTRODUCING THE LP JAZZ BAND

Not sure if these cute plastic jazz animals by LP have appeared here before. 

Yep, they're by our fave astronaut makers LP!

They seem to have popped up on auctions quite a lot. These pics are from archived Worthpoint and Ebay.

They're really quite detailed and well thought out. I can see them being collectable.

Here's a shot of six figures that were on Worthpoint, who described them as follows:

I've read that there are 10 different figures in all.

Search for both LP and IDL jazz band animals when looking for these online. Many sellers refer to the LP logo as IDL.

It'd be great to find examples of all 10 figures if anyone has them. 

I bet they're on Hugh's ace Small Scale Word site but I couldn't find them.

LOCKDOWN PUPDATES

I am sending Moonbase Junior regular pupdates on Whatsapp from Moonbase in Lockdown.

His toys here do miss him.

Here's Action Man holding up Piglet.

If I recall correctly Junior put a napkin nappy on old Accy Man!

Isolation has drawn the Missus and me to Junior's crate of Lego, which he hasn't really bothered with yet.

So we've cobbled a few buildings and vehicles together to whet his appetite.

It was great fun to do! What do you think?

MYSTERY LP STAR SET

This is unusual. 

A carded space set on an old Vectis auction.

The four chromed aliens are clearly LP inspired but the chromed spaceman looks like a much later Britains Star System.

A strange combination.

So what date will this be?

THE OLD WINDOW

I took this snap of this old Barber's window a while back.

The ramshackle toy display just appealed to me.

You don't often see windows like this now.

Here's an interesting fact, the actress who voiced Tin Tin Kyrano and Grandma Tracy in Thunderbirds, Christine Finn. Also played Barbara Judd in the TV version of Quatermass and the Pit!

As soon as I heard her voice I recognised her.

DUNGEONS, DRAGONS AND STRANGER THINGS

I enjoyed watching this old TV ad above for TSR's Dungeon's and Dragons from 1983. I never got into this whole thing unfortunately as I reckon I would have enjoyed the social fantasy vibe.

Did you like the Dungeons and Dragons cartoon or the film with Jeremy Irons?

Watching the TV ad reminded me of the now famous opening of Netflix's own homage to TSR Eighties childhoods, Stranger Things. Here the young heroes enjoy a frenetic game of dungeons and dragons that either causes or reflects what happens next with the Demogorgon.

Was the Demogorgon a real TSR figure?
