Not sure if these cute plastic jazz animals by LP have appeared here before.
Yep, they're by our fave astronaut makers LP!
They seem to have popped up on auctions quite a lot. These pics are from archived Worthpoint and Ebay.
They're really quite detailed and well thought out. I can see them being collectable.
Here's a shot of six figures that were on Worthpoint, who described them as follows:
[I have added the missing animals and likely model numbers in brackets. Woodsy]
"The 2 1/4" figures are marked IDL, Hong Kong and are each numbered.
No. A1 is an alligator playing an accordion;
[A2 Tuba Playing Piglet]
[A3 Banjo Playing Frog]
[A2 Tuba Playing Piglet]
[A3 Banjo Playing Frog]
No. A4 is a bear playing a cello;
No. A5 is a frog playing a banjo;
No. A6 is a bunny playing a saxophone;
No. A7 is a monkey playing the drums;
[A8 Harp playing Cat]
[A9 Fiddle playing Hippo]
[A8 Harp playing Cat]
[A9 Fiddle playing Hippo]
No. A10 is an elephant playing a guitar."
I've read that there are 10 different figures in all.
Search for both LP and IDL jazz band animals when looking for these online. Many sellers refer to the LP logo as IDL.
It'd be great to find examples of all 10 figures if anyone has them.
I bet they're on Hugh's ace Small Scale Word site but I couldn't find them.
Anyone got these jazzers?
I've only got No 7
ReplyDeleteI haven't got any so well done!
DeleteIs there a complete list of codes and description of all figures from Hong Kong starting with these "A + number" to reach the 900 series (9001,2,....) and the unnumbered "mikylandia" series also known as crazy zoo or something like that ? They date from late 60's I suppose to late '80s and the 900 series was then produced in chinese versions chaacterized by different colours and plastic type.
ReplyDeleteNot as far as I know Dottore. The brand of interest to me is LP and there are some model numbers on this blog [click LP on the Labels list at the bottom]. Also check the websites Snall Scale World for LP and also Tri-ang SpaceX Toys website for LP too. If you get anywhere with such a list I would be interested to hear back thanks.
DeleteThat's Small Scale World.
DeleteYou listed the [A3 Banjo Playing Frog], but A3 should be the trumpet playing mouse. The frog is A5, although I can desume from some photos showing all of them 10 that A3 may be the frog (and A5 the mouse). My items are A3-frog and A5-mouse.
ReplyDeleteI will send you the list I have of A1-A99 (some missing). When can I send photos ?
Hi Dottore, a list would be great. Photos and the list can be emailed to me on the email address at the bottom of this page, moonbasecentral@......... Thanks so much, I'm excited to see the list.
DeleteI have complete set on card with blister. Find me on Instagram. Toybrut is my name. Will send you some pics
DeleteHi Toybrut. I am not on instagram sorry. If you could email me a picture for the blog on my email moonbasecentral@gmail.com that would be great, thanks, Woodsy
