Move over Rover and let Woodsy take over!

 

Not content with building a Lunar Transporter from household odds and ends, the Lord of Sword himself has put together this rather excellent Spacex Moon Buggy model!

  I think you'll agree, he's made a fine job of it, matching the colour of the plastics perfectly and the body made from a whistle is the perfect shape!

 The wheels, made from plastic balls, actually look better than the original, with the holes cut out of the side, they are very reminiscent of the Apollo Moon Exploring Prospector toy!

 

Coupled with some cool photography, I think Woody should be over the moon with this little beauty!

S.O.S. - CALLING MR TRACY

I've been watching the latest season 3 episodes of the re-booted Thunderbirds Are Go. CITV have already shown the first nine season 3 episodes last year which, although I did watch I can't say they really held my attention and pretty much came and went. Of course I do admit that I don't fall into the series' target audience of seven to ten year olds but I have enjoyed the odd one.

Although season 3 has 26 episodes, this current run will stall at episode 18, with the remaining episodes due to be shown at a later date.

It has already been widely reported that 'Captain' Jeff Tracy is due to make an appearance, voiced by Lee Majors at some point so I'm tuning in just to watch the build up. Plus Zero X is up for a come back.

I'll be tuning in next Saturday to check out the latest episode, the second part of  S.O.S. which features a deep space vessel, The Calypso returning from a long mission, and unfortunately in doing so  plummets toward the Earth. Without giving too much away, the spacecraft does feature a crew member who did briefly feature in the original series...

Wasukei Robo Danguard Ace Model

 From Anime model maestro Rob Craig, comes his latest construction, the 1977 Gardmachine from Wasukei Robo Danguard Ace.

Rob reckons there is a very Andersoneque feel to the model, if Derek Meddings were designing for japanese TV!

2001 ASTRONAUT ACTION FIGURE

Continuing my look at some of the photos I've taken with a 2001 flavour , here's a few snaps I took a while back of my Mafex red 2001 Astronaut figure.

This is my take on the notion that Bowman could somehow go back to the primeval appearance of T.M.A.0 and meet Moonwatcher. (who just happens to look a lot like that pot gorilla on my mantlepiece!)

Colonel Davies salutes the fallen

With the news of the sad passing of Paul Darrow, who featured as the character Avon in BBC TV series, Blakes 7, modelmaker Kevin Davies felt it would be appropriate to show the items he has created from the show.

ORAC

Kevin used th same techniques and materials as the BBC props department to create these studio grade renditions of pivotal props from the series. Some of the production processes were quite challenging, especially working with the heavy perspex on some of the items. ORAC has a full featured light show and as I remmber, can be synced with an iPod to play soundbites from the show!

Some of the materials used in the show were household or everyday materials, but Kevin found some parts a lot more difficult to source than others.

SCORPIO BRACELET

Such was the attention to detail that Kevin lavished on the props, that he went to great lengths to ensure accuracy, including completely rebuilding the Liberator Bracelet to account for a small chamfer missing on the first draft, on the orange perspex button!

LIBERATOR TELEPORT BRACELET

One of Kevin's props - the Liberator sidearm, appeared on BBC's Pebble Mill at One show, wielded by Roj Blake himself and has the rather dubious provenance of being poked up the stars left nostril!
