Hello Woodsy
As a quick response to your Exitoy Moto Cross post, here's something I acquired just a few weeks ago, an early 1960's remote control Traffic Game by plastics manufacturer Muovo.
The player steers the minute cars and cyclists with a joystick which moves the magnet under the board, which depicts the Helsinki city center. One of the finest Finnish games in my collection.

Wow, the fact that the game board depicts a real place, rather than a fictional setting, is amazing. That must make the game/toy really special. A great find.
ReplyDeleteThanks Paul. The plan of Helsinki city centre has remained the same, but some buildings shown have been replaced with modern ones. An interesting historical document in that sense.
ReplyDeleteA fabulous item you have Arto. Authentic. I've found UK versions of Traffic Control too.
ReplyDeleteYou are right and thanks for pointing that out Woodsy, it may well be that Muovo borrowed the idea from Merit's Driving Test game

Very interesting link Arto, thanks. I typed in Driving Test into Board Game Geek and there's loads. I also saw this Suomi Ralli game whilst browsing in there https://share.google/iak5f5zzJ09ShobZx
DeleteAnd what's even better, check the box illustration of this West-German edition by Perma GmbH. A certain likeness there, isn't it?
