Young World Goodwin walkie talkies from 1978

The box art of this auctioned Young World walkie talkie set caught my eye.

Its not often you see a Saturn V and its MLP on toy box art.

The walkie talkies look pretty damn cool as well. 'space age styling'! They could have come from the set of UFO!

I remember getting and playing with plastic telephones one Christmas in the Sixties. Don't think I had any walkie talkies.

transogram batmobile christmas

There are hundreds of reels of home movies on You Tube, especially from Christmasses past.

I have searched quite a lot for some Christmas Project SWORD and SpaceX but no luck yet.

In the meantime here's some cool home footage on You Tube from Christmas morning 1966. I assume its American. 

I was blown away with the HUGE Batmobile that appears at the start. Recognising the T logo I can see its Transogram but its a new one on me. I've never seen it before.  

There's also Captain Action and trolls. Beware: the film shows vintage toy boxes being ripped apart!

where there any strange decorations on your tree?

How did your folks decorate the tree?

Did they put anything on it that was unusual?

Our tree was peppered with balloons. I have no idea how my parents stuffed them in between the branches without popping them!

Occasionally they did pop as we were all sat watching Christmas telly. We jumped out of our skins! ha ha.

When you were a kid did you eat everything that appeared on the Christmas table?

The arch-enemy of all young kids in Sixties Britain were brussels sprouts. For some reason these mini cabbage poop bombs simply did not agree with young constitutions and children would rather drink a glass of gravy than scoff a brussel!

I must admit I was never that keen on Christmas pudding myself. You know, the steamed dome of raisins and suet often set alight by a tipsy adult. I liked the custard that went with it but only asked for a bit of pud.

How did it go for you at the Christmas dinner back in the day?

British charity shops always seem to have a few of the same old games and toys whichever one you go in. Even at Christmas!

They seem to be everywhere all the time and in some charity shops you can't move for these games!

I'm sure you can think of more old charity chestnuts here in the UK.

Why are there so many?

Which old games and toys are ALWAYS available in your charity and thrift shops readers?

Christmas gift nostalgia or retro tumbleweed duds? Does anyone collect them?
