SATURDAY NIGHT, SUNDAY MORNING: THE DANCING SPACEMAN

Like this Sunday morning's pencil sharpener, it always amazes me where LP astronauts turn up. Browsing over breakfast coffee I've found this little silver fella, stood on a doll's house table! It's on a neat blog called Susan's Mini Homes and Susan describes our friend as 'dancing'. Yes! it's the Saturday Night Fever move! ha ha!

I have decided that LP astronauts aren't really space travellers at all. They're time travellers and will continue to cruise the future for decades to come! Where's the strangest place you've seen one readers?

 

APOLLO MOON EXPLORING PENCIL SHARPENER: CARDED EXAMPLE FOUND

About a year ago one Sunday morning I stumbled across this LP style astronaut pencil sharpener in Argentina. It was loose but clearly made up of Apollo Moon Exploring toys.

 

 

So I was excited this week when I found a carded example on another site called Astro Collection. One of the astronauts appears to be different and this time we have a complete US flag like the one in the Imperial Apollo Moon Exploring sets. The card is a generic space-style card from the 70's I would say. No makers name visible. Should you feel flush you can own this pencil sharpener for around £53! Contact Astro Collection.

 

SATURDAY THUNDERBIRDS 6 TOY CARS MYSTERY

Just been watching Thunderbird 6 on You Tube and noticed a couple of toy cars zooming around in a particular scene. There's a stationary police car but what are the two vehicles speeding one way and the other behind it?

C'mon guys, I know its Saturday but there's still time for Thunderbirds!

PHOTONIC CUT AND PASTE

I recently posted this gallery of different old images similar to the SpaceX Photonic Propulsion Space Station.

 

Thinking that SpaceX's concept may have been a composite of two or more of these images I've experimented bringing a couple together. Below is the finished result. On the left is a cut and paste hybrid of the four-armed station together with the red photonic spacecraft. On the right is the somewhat faded black and white illustration of the proposed SpaceX toy. What do you think?

 

WHAT'S THE WEATHER LIKE WHERE YOU ARE?

Here in Blighty the subject of the weather (usually bad) is always on everyone's lips. As the seasons change so does the conversation.

It's becoming very autumnal here at Glenn Field. The nights are drawing in and there's a nip in the air. The leaves on the trees are just beginning to fall, and my garden's looking very tired.

I imagine that our readers in sunnier climes are still enjoying nice weather - Anybody out there want to comment on what their weather's like and cheer up a dull, cloudy Saturday over here?

Lost Dr Who Episodes

I must say the recent  discovery of nine missing episodes from the Doctor's second incarnation must have sent Dr Who fans and lovers of vintage TV into apoplexy, and considering it's coming up to the fiftieth anniversary next month, excellent timing.

I do remember  enjoying the The  Web of Fear  which (Dr Who fans prepare to correct me here ) introduced UNIT and Col. Leithbridge Stewart  - The second  story Enemy of the World I'm not so sure of. I have in recent times seen the only  episode thought to exist until this discovery, but I have to say I don't recall watching it at the time (I was probably watching Lost in Space or Voyage.. on ITV )

Although the discovery of these missing episodes are most welcome , I suspect I'm not alone in wishing a few lost Dalek stories might have been found, but, hey you never know, this find in Nigeria leads me to think the possibilities of finding  more stuff are as endless as time and space.
