I must say the recent discovery of nine missing episodes from the Doctor's second incarnation must have sent Dr Who fans and lovers of vintage TV into apoplexy, and considering it's coming up to the fiftieth anniversary next month, excellent timing.
I do remember enjoying the The Web of Fear which (Dr Who fans prepare to correct me here ) introduced UNIT and Col. Leithbridge Stewart - The second story Enemy of the World I'm not so sure of. I have in recent times seen the only episode thought to exist until this discovery, but I have to say I don't recall watching it at the time (I was probably watching Lost in Space or Voyage.. on ITV )
Although the discovery of these missing episodes are most welcome , I suspect I'm not alone in wishing a few lost Dalek stories might have been found, but, hey you never know, this find in Nigeria leads me to think the possibilities of finding more stuff are as endless as time and space.
It's great that they've been found but interesting that the rumours have been talking of far more than 9 and from Ethiopia, not Nigeria.
ReplyDeleteI suppose they might have found dozens but only nine were lost episodes.
ReplyDeleteNot heard the rumour about Ethiopia. If true I hope there's a few lost Dalek episodes amongst them.
I gather they found 11, of which 9 were missing. It's a huge find to be sure but some of the rumours were quoting 100 lost episodes!
ReplyDeleteIt is intriguing, Kevin. Assuming there's any truth in the rumours I wonder if they might have found any episodes from other lost BBC series.
