Jet Ace Logan aka Flash Gordon!

Found this chap whilst on holiday in Spain in the nineties. I reckoned he might have been Jet-Ace Logan, a comic book favourite of mine. I knew that Jet - Ace was fairly popular in Europe and that translated reprints and new story strips specifically created for the European market had been published, even a Finnish cartoonist , Pertri Hiltuner had created a spoof of Jet-Ace called Rocket Reynolds, under the pseudonym "Valentin Kalpa". It was only when I got out of the shop and into the Spanish sunshine that I could read the tiny lettering on the spaceman's back -copyright K.F.S. 1990 Comics. K.F.S. I thought...Kings Features Syndicate - I realised I'd bought a model of Flash Gordon - still I did pose the question why was he dressed as Jet-Ace Logan?!!!

Project Spaceman has landed

Probably one of the most often seen spacemen figures are those which are in the poses shown above. The Tri-ang Spacex Golden Astronauts were based on these kind of figures and all kinds of different versions have appeared over time, by various manufacturers and they are sometimes still seen today as cake decorations. These rainbox coloured beauties are from Paul Vreedes collection and probably date from the late 1960's. There will be lots more to come from Project Spaceman very soon, but please feel free to send any and all pictures of spaceman figures you come across to update the project!

C21 ASTON MARTIN DB 5

Here we have the sleek and beautiful plastic Aston Martin DB-5 by Century 21. In immaculate condition it comes with a red racing stripe and friction drive. With its obvious 007 heritage it really is a cool toy. The scalextric-like box shows a red Aston numbered 1. The actual toy is white and numbered 4 so it does beg the question whether there are other colour variations out there? I wonder if the Scalextricness of this car (compare with a real Scalextric DB5 below - the white DB5 - the real Bond car was silver - was only ever sold as part of the Scalextric 007 set) ran further than its looks and along with the JR21 Typhoon Motorbike posted here were there more formal links between the two companies? What's for sure is that this is just one of a bigger fleet of Century 21 toy cars.

JR21 TB2 POD JEEP

Sidders kindly supplied these pics of his little plastic jeep from his JR21 TB2. I was keen to see whether the JR21 diamond mark appeared on the base but as you can see there's no mark at all. How about the Mole? Are there colour variations on this jeep and the mole? Any other J21 pod vehicles?

BIRTHDAY FIRST - NEW DISCOVERY: YELLOW AND PURPLE CENTURY 21 PROBE FORCE 3

Swordheads, there will be a few new discoveries being revealed during the first blogiversary month and here's the first! It's a corker too - I recently discovered this lurking in the sold archive of Astons Auctioneers; a Century 21 Probe Force 3 in yellow and purple colouring! Wow! Even missing its wings, which, based on the bit available, I assume were yellow and purple too, I think it looks stunning but its the sort of bright colour scheme I associate more with Tarheel than C21. Chris Aston of the auction house kindly supplied this much bigger picture and informed me that, along with the C21 Sam Loover car, the lot made a handsome £460 plus buyers premium, which I imagine was mostly for the Sam's car. Anymore colour variations out there?

JR21 MISSILE LAUNCHER

Hi Paul,

I managed to unearth my Corgi Corporal Missile Carrier after some minor excavations in my office.I thought it might be nice to get a couple of shots of the two toys together. I suspect the unusual addition of chrome wheels on the JR21 toy was influenced by this variant of the Corgi model.
