I was nuts about Outer Space Men as a kid.
Now grown up I can appreciate other more recent toys my old pals influenced.
Here's Star Attack.
Deffo a Star Wars riff.
The dome's cool, a sort of helmet shape.
Most of the aliens are here, miniaturized, including my favourite Metalunan, Orbitron.
Do you have anything like this readers?
I have a loose set of figures but not the dome. There was also a set of miniature Thunderbirds vehicles in a similar style.
ReplyDeleteYes, the TB set looks great Arto. It's on MC. What a mash up, Thunderbirds and Outerspacemen!
DeleteI never came across The Outer Space Men, back in the 60s, but would have bought some, if I had.
ReplyDeleteThey'd have gone so well with Matt Mason and the Zeroids.
I think that was Colorform's plan Mish. Mel Birnkrant has detailed his entire toy concept and design process online on his fabulous website if you're interested. I still can't believe all my Outer Space Men got chucked when I outgrew them. Tragic!
DeleteI've got the loose figures as well, which are smaller repops of the original Outer Space Men, but never knew there was a dome!
ReplyDeleteThere's quite a few sets with mini outer space men Ed. Some rare vintage knockoffs too like the Toy House carded blister set of coloured miniatures. Wow!
