It's been quite a weekend for haunted house films.
Two on my bucket list got half-ticked off. I've been wanting to see them for years. Alas, I was too knackered to stay up so compromising I watched the start of both, one on Fearsome and one on Rewind.
The House of the Long Shadows is the serious one of the two. Directed by Pete Walker, it involves Desi Arnez's son staying at a Welsh manor to write a book in 24 hours. The movie's claim to fame is that it's the only time four great old horror icons have started together: Lee, Cushing, Price and Carradine. Pete Walker always made interesting British chillers. I remember seeing Frightmare with a girlfriend at the flicks in the late 70s. Gruesome stuff, I think I was more creeped out than her!
Next up was the black comedy Bloodbath at the House of Death starring the brilliant but waning Vincent Price once again and zany 80's funny man Kenny Everett. I don't get beyond the titles on this one so it's still all to ay for.

The other is a smaller foyer poster for Sinbad And The Eye Of The Tiger ... but its a Japanese one, with dynamic Japanese writing and fonts..
They sound brilliant Mish. Are they up or stored away? Piccies would be fun.

DeleteWhat a lovely gift! I started collecting movie posters in the 1970s, when I went to all the Fan Conventions in New York City. Had hundreds at one point. Mostly horror and sci-fi. One of my favorite hobbies for years. My pride and joy was a British Quad poster for Thunderbirds Are Go! All long gone, but fondly remembered. SFZ

DeleteI have 8-10 Woodsy! My sister worked at a theater as a teen, and brought some home for me now and then. Like Mish, I'd have to hunt for them. The only one I know for sure is Smpkey and the Bandit, with Burt Reynolds, my favorite! I'll have to hunt for them now.

DeleteSmokey was CB radio slang for the police in the 1970s. Bandit was Burt Reynolds who was being chased by a Sheriff over several states for hauling an illegal shipment of beer. The sheriff was played by Jackie Gleason, and the trucker hauling the beer was played by singer Jerry Reed. Burt Reynolds drove a black Trans Am and attempted to get Jackie Gleason to chase him instead of the beer hauling truck. Sally Field was the love interest . A classic fun comedy film.

I've yet to see them Jim, the favourites. I watched Brazil V Scotland last night. Brazil play a wonderful game.
