The Japanese sense of style and design of sci-fi vehicles is astounding.
I've never seen an O Tester before.
Like a flying steam iron!

It's another Japanese anime. Zero Tester was made in 1973/4. Starts off like Thunderbirds - they are a search and rescue organisation. They have 4 cool ships used in rescues and are based on an island but then there is an alien invasion so they end up battling first the Armanoids in the first series and the Gallos in series 2. Zero Tester 1 is a high speed jet/spacecraft that can split into two seperate ships, Tester 2 is a spaceship, Tester 3 is a large submarine, Tester 4 is the equivalent of Thunderbird 2 (it's even green and carries a pod). There were toys of the island and the ships, plus Bandai made model kits of them all.
ReplyDeleteSounds fabulous Yorkie, very imaginative and creative vehicle design. I've never seen the show, toys or the models in the flesh!
DeleteI was aware of the BANDAI O-Tester model kit series, but was unaware that it was based on an Anime! I managed to find the O-Tester 4 kit, and built it up in classic Zero-X colors! SFZ
