Here's a clip of the marvellous A14 Vanguard-style vehicle from Joe 90.
The episode is Business Holiday from 1968 and can be watched in full on You Tube.
What a fabulous job Century 21 did of this prop vehicle. It looks so damn fabulous on the ocean and in the swamp!
Do you like it?
Lovely desing and model work.
ReplyDeleteSorry, 'design' ...
ReplyDeleteIt really is. So convincing Mish.
DeleteA cool design indeed. I especially love the U59 Explosives Truck and the Amphibious U87 variant from The Race episode. http://www.bigrat.co.uk/special/truck.html Bill
ReplyDeleteIt's interest to read the tiny footnote on that David Sissons Big Rat link Bill re. The U61: "thanks to the internet, we now know that the elusive wheels originally came from one of the mid-60s 'Johnny Express' line of commercial truck toys made by US company Topper Toys. However as David suggests, it seems the wheels used on the models in the episode were cast from an original and then modified to make them narrower."
DeleteI've got a set of those wheels and yep, they must've been modified. In their unmodified form, they are the wheels of the cab that pulls the Shado Mobile transporter lorries in UFO.
DeleteThe A-14 attack vehicle looks to have the same undercarriage as the SHADO Mobiles from UFO!
ReplyDeleteAnd the tank sent to attack Joe in the A-15 looks like the Unitron tank from Captain Scarlet!
DeleteBoth the Shado mobile and the unitron from Joe 90 have the Topper Toys Tiger Joe tank wheels as that is what they were made from.
ReplyDeleteHave you ever used a Tiger Joe Kevin?
DeleteYep, I used one to make my studio scale Shado mobile. It is a big toy!
DeleteOh my! Century 21 Toys should have released one. What a vehicle! Have we seen your model Kev? Does it go?
DeleteYep, but I'll send you some pictures. My model will roll but it's not powered.
