Continuing on from my JR21 Thunderbird water pistol post, here's the Stingray water pistol from Fairylite toys.
Unlike the Thunderbird pistol which looks like what we saw in the series, Fairylite chose to do a unique moulding of Stingray in a light blue colour.
The water jet comes out of the front, and doesn't have the multi-directional part seen on later re-issued versions of the Stingray water pistol which don't have the 'Stingray' name on the sides, and are usually in a red or yellow plastic.
Below: Red & yellow re-issued water pistols with replica cards

It's a strange idea that one but not a bad rendition of the sub! The WASP sidearm would've been nice.
ReplyDeleteIndeed, a very odd idea, Kev, but I imagine they sold okay at the time. They're the kind of cheap toy you'd see in seaside shops .

Lovely toy pistols those Scoop and I like the replica headers too. A nice collection all round.
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Woodsy, all nostalgic stuff.
DeleteHad this as a kid, but hated the gun handle.
ReplyDeleteMy dad cut it off with a coping saw, leaving just the Stingray, with a hole underneath.
When put in the bath, it filled with water and submerged, just like the 'real' thing.
I was one happy kid !
I imagine a few people did that, Mish, especially when the water pistol mechanism broke, which I seemed to remember they were prone to do.
DeleteI did the same with this as a kid

I confess, I do have a fondness for those dime store AHI carded toys, even though I don't own any. That Enterprise water pistol in your link does look like is begging to be parted from it's handle though!
