Talking of Aurora!

My nephew sent me this stunning pic of a huge Aurora above his house on Orkney this week.

Wow! I've never seen the Northern Lights, not even this week when they were all over the UK! Doh!

    Yup, I became an Aurora First Timer [AFT] on Monday ~21:30hrs. All crimson/plum on the Western horizon. Impressed. otoh, my dear departed FiL (1925-2024), as he slipped into dementia _would_ go on about his AFT when he lost his cherry in Buenos Aires ca.1943: an [in the] altogether different experience!

    Saw them once in Shipley, back in the late 70s, Woodsy, but they were very faint and colourless, and then last year in Hemel Hempstead, where they appeared more strongly and with more colour, but still relatively weak.
