An eBay listing. It's not clear if someone coughed up the £245 asking price...
ReplyDelete"This is for a Mike Hazard car
Model ...Excellent
Box ......No Box
This is for a really nice scarce1960 plastic friction car .
Based on the James Bond DB5 ..
This model is 21cm long.
Comes with the working friction motor ( a little notchy ).
All 3 functions work great ..
As you can see its missing the front numberplate & the ejecting baddie..
The front axil pops out of the holder at one side , easy to push back in ..
Stands really nice as a rare Marx model... "
It's certainly not big enough for the 12 imch Mike Hazard figure I know and love... At first sight, the side view reminds me of the Bond Toyota 2000 car, so stylistically it may be an amalgam of the two cars. Maybe you Moonbasers can identify the front radiator inspiration -Studebaker?
In this world of "Trust nothing seen online" I began to wonder of it was AI, but I suppose not unless it's a pay and not receive scam.
It's certainly nothing I have ever seem before.
The box art is mystifying as the figure depicted is not Mike Hazard
( why wouldn't Marx reuse the artwork from their 12 inch figure to keep the thing "on brand"?)
A bit more Googling turned up this link, so apparently it was a thing...

Fascinating Looey , thanks! I am intrigued too. I'll look in a couple of books but the link you sent is kosher. I've bought off JK myself. Interesting that their mega-expensive ( and sold!) example was in a mail order box.
