Here's another unusual Tudor Rose space toy: Men in Space Flying Platform.
It's one of those spinner launcher toys, but it has a delightful twist: two small hard plastic Tudor Rose figures standing inside a basket affair.
I think the Americans first came up with the idea - you can see spacemen attached to spinners on a couple of early space guns.
If my childhood experience is anything to go by, the spinner would have lasted just a couple of hours before it landed on a neighbour's roof.
There's a Batman version of this toy that goes for silly money.
Cheers

A great looking toy, but not one likely to survive long, before heading off in to outer space.
ReplyDeleteHow beautiful! I loved those flying saucer spinner toys, and yes, many of them ended up in outer space! Also, how horrible for those spacemen in the cage, spinning around and around! SFZ
ReplyDeletea real gem of a period toy. amazing that its still intact!
ReplyDeleteFabulous. Makes sense that this previously unseen (to me, at least) toy should exist as all the other Tudor Rose Batman toys were modifications of their existing products.
ReplyDeleteWhich raises an interesting question about the rumoured "Holy Grail" Batmobile, which would now have been the only original Tudor Rose item without a precedent.
Have you got one Arto? Have you seen one?
DeleteIt is an amazing toy Brian: well done keeping it safe and intact! A treasure. The Batman version: there are a couple of different versions I think. I've seen parts mistakenly interchanged between the two.
ReplyDeleteThere's a lovely plastic Spanish flying platform toy too.
