Matteline 1967 has done a whole series of You Tube videos on the models, kits, and toys, that served as the basis of the craft used in various Gerry Anderson productions, or provided detailing parts.
In this video he looks at the plastic, tinplate, and die-cast toys that were used.
Some were used almost straight, with just a little re-painting and weathering, others were extensively modified.
Very interesting. Do you agree?

A FABulous video, which clarifies what I always loved about the Supermarionation universe - it was a world of toys brought to life. SFZ
ReplyDeleteI agree, a fab video. Very informative!
ReplyDeleteIt's a technique we used quite a bit at the BBC, on shows such as Dr Who, Red Dwarf and Space Vets.
ReplyDeleteMust have been great fun Mish. Did you get to go to the toyshop and buy the props?
