I got this rocket in a job lot some years ago and have yet to be able to identify its maker. Maybe one of Moonbase's knowledgeable readers can shed some light?
Sorry, only familiar with the Astronaut which is not the thing being asked about: has pose same as some in a set I had as child in late 1960s, early 1970s, memory says the set was by Marx. They seemed to be roughly same size as 1/48 scale model plane pilots and the guys which came with Aurora's 1/48 plastic model tanks. Set I had was several of each pose in mix of red, white, blue, plastic. For some reason my brain expects the rocket might be from a cake decoration supplier.
the rocket reminds me of the Atlas series that you have Ed, with the red, white and blue sections in soft styrene. Could well be a cake decoration I agree! Bill
Thanx guyz! The thought had crossed my mind that it was probably sold as a cake topper, but even cake toppers are made by somebody and some decorations were made by major toy companies as a way to utilize older tooling or sell excess stock whose popularity had already peaked. It's definitely not Processed Plastics Bill (ALTHOUGH Processed Plastics spaceships were in fact bundled with Archer spacemen and sold as cake toppers!)
I have no idea, but what a beauty! SFZ
