The best find was the no feet "regular" Pez from the 1960's. In regulars, there is no head other than a simple mechanism to eject the candy. These are very desirable in good condition.
Have you anything like this?
I also found a stack of unused colouring books from the U.S. Wondering how they ended up here, the answer was simple: they were all printed in Finland! Must be samples preserved by some printing house.
I picked up this Fun Time Coloring Book for its marvellous cover illustration, which reminds me of Maurice Sendak's wonderful children's book Where the Wild Things Are.

That was certainly a great find. I would guess 1960s ?
ReplyDeleteYes Paul, all the books were from the Sixties. It is surprising how far and wide the products of Finnish printing houses have spread abroad.
ReplyDeleteYes, excellent illustration for the cover! SFZ
ReplyDeleteMust admit thought also of our MC Woodsy, who is mad about monsters!
DeleteThe Pez is cool - I maybe had one like this as a kid but that was like a hundred years ago! haha
ReplyDeleteThanks Ed. There is a huge and enthusiastic collector community around Pez (The first-ever item sold on eBay was Pez too!)
DeleteOh yes - I do know about Pez mania out there in the wild Arto! It's one of those series of collectibles I deliberately stayed away from - mostly. That said, I used to have a couple of LOTR Pez sets and just this past Christmas bought the 2024 Christmas offerings as stocking stuffers for the family.
DeleteI don't really recall PEZ as a kid, but it must have been around. As an adult it was collectable monster PEZ that were in my mad thoughts and eventually I found a PEZ Creature in a junk shop in Leeds. The star of my vintage toy Fair stall, I SOOOO regret selling it now! Your vintage PEZ is wunderbar Arto. What will you do, keep it?
DeleteFor now yes Woodsy, although I collect only select tv and movie related Pez dispensers I have accumulated quite a few along the years.
DeleteSorry to hear about the fate of your Creature Pez. There are many great monsters among Pez, plus the Psychedelic Eye!
I like the eye and the skull a lot Arto and have been tempted to make my own!
