A project I've been working on on and off for a while is scratch building the Hydromic missiles silos, seen in Stingray.
I've already built the missiles out of wood and bits of plastic card, and started to build one of the launch towers, which are built using parts from the old Revell Jupiter "C" kit.
The rest of the parts I'll use will come from the re-issued Atlantis 'Everything is Go' kit .
That looks great. Neat idea for a project too.
ReplyDeleteCheers Kev. It should be close to studio scale size, but I'll need to plan how to dismantle it, afterwards, for storage purposes as it will be difficult to find the space to display it.
DeleteA problem I'm familiar with!
ReplyDeleteLooking good Scoop.
ReplyDeleteThat 'Everything is Go' kit is amazing.
Cheers Mish. Yes, as you'll probably know the Alantis Everything is go kit uses the same tooling as the old Revell kit, parts of which turned up in a few Anderson series. The Altlas booster can be seen on the side of the Mole's cradle, for example.
DeleteWhat a terrific project! Your Supermarionation recreations are really something. As I think I mentioned, I'm revisiting Stingray again and am impressed at the amazing hardware in the series - these missiles are a good example! SFZ
ReplyDeleteIndeed, Zigg. There are some interesting pieces of hardware in the series, and using some kit parts and toys that, with luck can still be found today.
DeleteSuperb project Scoop! Great provenance. Best of luck with the build.
ReplyDeleteThanks Woodsy. I still need a few bits, and some parts will have to be improvised, but it's all part of the fun.
DeleteNice work! I especially like the subtle horizontal bands you've airbrushed onto the rocket bodies to break up the smooth surface a little.
ReplyDeleteCheers Lewis. I want to create something that's not to overly weathered, but it's knowing when to stop. I made a couple of the Arrowhead fighters out of Airfix Freedom Fighters, and as there's not much detail close up on those in the series, I needed to let my imagination roam free!
