When it comes to toys, Germany, where we recently visited, is a land of Playmobil, Kinder and Schleich. These brands are massive there.
Always expanding and reaching out, the ever-heavy Schleich now do DC Batman and Joker figures, together with countless fantasy creatures and heroes.
They even have their own kids comic, which includes a collectable figure, like this bio-biollante-esque Dschungel-ungeheuer.
But it's one toy from the Neue Helden line that stopped me in my tracks at a fleamarket, the big white battle elephant.
Large and solid, Schleich's models are always top quality and they've even made an add-on for this one, an intricate Moorish battle platform.
Together they look superb!
Have you any Schleich?
Schleich makes a lot of high quality animal figures.
ReplyDeleteMy wife collects those.
(Oh, boy does she collect those...)
When you have a minute send me a pic of your wife's collection Scott for the blog. if your wife's OK with that of course.
DeleteI'm loving their big Dinosaur playsets.I just bought one that's an Indiana Jones style adventure. An ancient temple patrolled by dinosaurs. It has all kinds of clever trap doors to catch the adventurer in, and a golden dinosaur skull as a prize if the adventurer succeeds.Superb!
ReplyDeleteA golden disnosaur skull! Sounds fantastic Brian! Pics please!
DeleteI have one lonely Schleich dinosaur.
ReplyDeleteSanta could solve this Ed.
DeleteI'm afraid Santa is broke Woodsy - bought too many O-gauge trains this year! LOL
DeleteOur local Art store has a Schleich stand and I impulse bought a Therizinosaur because I had never seen one before! I don't buy many limited movement action figures for $45, but the feathers, moving mouth and giant sycle shaped claws hooked me!
ReplyDeleteI wasn't surprised that years later, one turned up in a Jurassic World movie!
Wow, thats dear I guess but Schleich are a quality name. Hard to say after a few drinks as well!
DeleteSchleich models are beautiful. I only have a few, along with some by CollectA. They are very useful for model photography, and creating various movie-style scenes. Not cheap, but they really are worth it for the quality.
ReplyDeleteNot heard of CollectA Paul. Interesting.
