This lauded blog, the Collinsport Historical Society, has a really interesting page on Dark Shadows toys that didn't do it for the author.
If you like Dark Shadows then maybe have a read.

What do you think? Do you like Dark Shadows readers?
Funny coincidence. I've been going through a rewatch of the original series recently. And I'm involved in an online discussion about the show in another forum. I never saw those pillows, but I had a DS boardgame that came with a coffin. You build a skeleton, and if you win you get to wear the vampire fangs. (Yuck.) I think I may have had a very cheap Barnabas costume one Halloween, too. Nowadays I have a perfect replica of Barnabas' cane, which I use for real. I figured if I had to use a cane, it was going to be a cool one.
ReplyDeleteA Barnabas cane, how cool is that Baron! Do you swing it about on dark nights clicking down the street?
DeleteI came across a mention of those glow-in-the-dark Dark Shadows pillows some time ago, and thought how weird they were. I still think they are weird.
ReplyDeleteDread to think how they glow!
DeleteMy Grandmother would watch soap operas all afternoon. When I got home from grade school I had to put up with them, only one television, until the 4:30 movie came on and she went into the kitchen to start dinner. When Dark Shadows came on I finally found a soap opera Liked.
ReplyDeleteThe only merchandise I had was the Barnabas Collins vampire van MPC model.
What a great story! Late afternoon viewing eh! I thought it would have been an evening show. A soap as well, fascinating. I really must have look. What was your favourite dinner?
