I always loved Bone's Tricorder on the original Star Trek.
Shaped like a medical cassette player, it was the little probe I liked the most, whirring up and down patients diagnosing cosmic aliments.
Well, I had to look twice at our new Hermesetas dispenser. It looks a lot like that Tricorder probe!
Sweet! ha ha!
Have you any household objects that look like TV and film props?
I've turned a lot of household items into tv prop replicas over the years!
ReplyDeleteYou are a canny recycler Kev!
DeleteThis was standard practice on sci fi TV shows at the BBC Visual Effects Department, where I worked in the '90s.
ReplyDeleteConverting ordinary things into futuristic props and models saved both time and money, and, when done well, could be quite convincing.
I once turned a garden leaf blower into an alien 'fighter' type space craft, and a colleague turned an old vacuum cleaner into a biohazard pod ship.
Fabulous Mish! What did the blower fighter craft appear in?
DeleteRed Dwarf.
