Taking a break from my Stingray posts, but keeping to the submarine theme, here's some new photos of my Wave UFO Skydiver model.
Skydiver has always been one of my favourite Derek Meddings designs, and the Wave kit is a fairly accurate looking model, and comes with a detailed decal sheet,
The downside is it’s a soft vinyl kit considered by some modellers as not the best material to use, mainly because some of the parts usually need some attention to bend them back to their proper shape.
That aside, once assembled I reckon it looks pretty good, and at 18” long it’s a good sized model.
When it came to painting, for the model’s base colour I used Halfords Ford Oyster Gold (now discontinued), with metallic grey, silver, black, and flat white for detailing. The rest is down to weathering, decals and finally a coat of sealer.
Here's a couple of older photos showing the model in 'seaskim' mode.

Magnificent!

ReplyDeleteGreat Job!
Cheers Scott, thanks.
DeleteI agree - the Skydiver is neck-and-neck with Zero-X as my favorite Meddings vehicle, and you certainly have done it great justice here - what a magnificent model! SFZ
