The industrial site is by a german company - I cant recall the name - I had a similar one with two trucks on it. Its a vacuum formed base in heavy plastic and a long coiled spring in a slot, like matchbox Motorway, which pulls the two trucks along the track. As the vehicle reaches the stop, it tips out the plastic balls into a hopper. The track is then manually reversed by the operator, the train/truck goes back down the track and collects the balls from the hopper, to start again. Great fun! Spacenik is a re-issue of Tomy's earlier toy 'Grippidee Gravidee' and was provided by Triang-Rovex. Its a toothed trackway with a battery powered shuttle, with small cog wheels. The Spacenik travels round the track, held on by a ridge on the track and moves about vertically, inverted and horizontally, untill it makes the red turntable, whereby it rotates and comes back again. Ive got both sets of 1 and 2 and they are great fun to watch, but take up a lot of space and are quite wobbly and fragile when assembled in large layouts.. Bill

ReplyDeleteCheers Bill. These are great looking toys and you were lucky to have them. Your memory of them is vivid too, I can almost sense them in front of me!
