Arto recently sent in pics of his addition to Helsinki Base, a Thunderbirds glove puppet.
Arto says surprisingly its not listed in Dennis Nicholson's Andersonalia bible and so thought it might be of interest.
It reads Made in Gt Britain (c) 1966 at the base of the neck, but no maker. There may have been a label inside the uniform, but not anymore.
Anyone any ideas?
I had the Jeff Tracy one as a kid. Presumably there was a set.
ReplyDeleteI believe they were made by Sunshine Vinyl which as a part of Mettoy in the 1960s, They did a whole range of Thunderbirds characters and those from Stingray too.
ReplyDeleteSunshine Vinyl glove puppet
ReplyDeleteThanks guys. Curiously Nicholson mentions only the Sunshine Lady Penelope glove puppet, although quite obviously there was a fuller range of TB characters.
ReplyDeleteA 'glove' puppet show version of Thunderbirds.
ReplyDelete"That's the way to do it !"
Can you imagine! Although I always enjoyed Sooty, Sue and Sweep on telly! And my favourite for ages, Michael Bentine's Potty Time, though may nit have been gloves!
DeleteMy eldest sister made a Scott Tracy string puppet in the late sixties with a tennis ball for a head! It was great! Bill
