A brisk look round Sleights Eskdale Antiques the other day, where I snapped a few toy pics inside for the blog.
Here goes.
A plastic Pippin Toys ship.
Hornby Pullmans.
Beatles and Stones.
Hornby set with track.
Tractor and carriages.
Dan Dare radio station.
A telephone exchange!
Meccano.
Hornby crane.
Hornby carriages.
Finally, an old church chair from Glastonbury no less!
Anything for you?
I'm gonna put my order in for all the Hornby stuff! LOL Lots of cool things there Woodsy. I like the Pippin ship as well.
ReplyDeleteYep, I adored plastic ships as a kid Ed and would have snapped up that Pippin Toys liner. I did have a similar one back then. It could have been the very same one! ha ha https://4.bp.blogspot.com/-8TITNauj-e4/Ubs6rUiPwZI/AAAAAAAAasY/kYk8oDiNRo0/s1600/butlins+toy+boats.jpg [looking at my boat held up it doesn't look like the Pippin one after all!]
DeleteIt's funny, as a toy collector I love boats but except for the MPC torpedo boat and the Giant of Hong Kong Viking ship I had as a kid I don't have many memories of other toy boats or ships. It seems Little Green Army Men and Western toys made up the lion's share of my childhood memories.
DeleteHornby train set please! SFZ
ReplyDeleteAll coming your way SF!
DeleteSo many pieces of history. The exchange operator is a job long gone. Just as my Mother once worked as a shopping centre lift (elevator) operator.
ReplyDeleteYes, I loved that exchange unit Paul. I had a toy like that back in the Sixties. And guess what, in the 1980's I was a lift operator too! A Museum lift.
