I've always liked this NASA MOLAB design. This postcard was on auction so I saved the pic. Here it is trundling through the barren wastes of the Northern Arizona desert way back when.
I've never seen a toy version of this in the flesh. I think there may have been designs but nothing produced.
Do you know of a toy version readers?
As soon as I saw that photograph, I thought of the Hot Wheels Oscar Mayer Wienermobile Monster Truck. I will send you a photo.
ReplyDeleteIt's a dead ringer Paul !
ReplyDeleteWell there's this mysterious model here you might remember Woody:

But still no idea who it was for and if it was ever made.

I've always been fascinated by that prototype Paul. It seems to have a Mortoys Six in One vibe, especially the wheels https://projectswordtoys.blogspot.com/2021/09/six-in-one-even-more-mortoys-birthday.html?m=0
DeleteWe've had this conversation before, but the underside of the concept toy has a toothed belt underneath, very like the Tomy Space Eight series vehicles, which helps the four wheel drive. In this instance, it looks like it may also offer additional traction as the toy rolls over obstacles, so that when the front wheels lift clear of the ground, the moving belt would ensure the body nudges forward again to put all four wheels in contact.
