Earlier in the year Arto got hold of the Probe Force 3 forerunner, the Hover Rocket XL9.
Sadly it had no fins.
Wanting to see it complete for Arto I whipped up some plans based on known examples and sent them to someone who's fab work we know!
Modelling maestro Kevin took it from there and from nothing he created three lovely new red fins complete with riveting!
Here they are tested on Kev's own Probe Force 3.
and fin-ally here they are looking just great in situ on Arto's new Rocket XL9 ....
... in Helsinki Base,
Finland!
A BIG HAND to Woodsy for masterminding "Project XL9" and Kevin for its superb execution! I was gobsmacked by Woodsy's generous offer to come up with the missing parts for my Hoover, and even more so when they arrived. The wings and the tail fin look gorgeous with all the little rivets, and they fit perfectly. Kev's the Man!
ReplyDeleteSo once more thank you Woodsy. Thank you Kevin. Much appreciated.
You're welcome. It was interesting trying to make parts fit on a toy that was in a different country!
ReplyDeleteGreat job Kevin. The rivet detail is so well done.
ReplyDeleteThank you.
ReplyDeleteWho needs 3d printing, when a master craftsman is at hand! Well done Kevin! Bill
ReplyDeleteThank you. Yep, 3d printing is as alien to me as 21st century music.
ReplyDeleteExcellent model work as well as teamwork in bring a vintage toy back to life.
ReplyDeleteGlad we could help Arto. The finished article looks fantastic!
ReplyDeleteXL9 ready for launch! Great result Arto and the moonbase R&D boyz :)
