For the kid who had everything from the worlds of Major Matt Mason ...
.... Major Matt Wallpaper!
I mean, Wow! Who wouldn't have wanted this on their wall back in 1967! I seem to recall I had antique cars but this would have been much better! A major step forward!
Our very own budding astronaut in Finland, Commander Arto Aldrin, is now the proud owner of this piece of Matt Mason history. Suffice to say Arto is excited as it wends a merry voyage to Helsinki Base all the way from the States.
Wall to wall fun or what!
[The picture is from the Ebay seller, toyscout57 of NY, who has sold 14 pieces of this marvellous MMM wallpaper]
Wow! That's great. I remember having space themed wallpaper as a kid. There were certainly Gemini spacecraft on it, I can't remember what else.
ReplyDeleteWould have loved it, but my parents wouldn't have allowed it. :-(
ReplyDeleteThat is one "Major" acquisition, congrats, that is a piece of history from "the golden age":!
ReplyDeleteThanks guys. The wallpaper is by Sunworthy of Canada. The seller had cut the roll in 56 x 48 cm single portions of a complete image set. Ready for framing!
ReplyDeleteI love the thick tactile texture of paint on a bluish grey background, printed on a sturdy stock that feels like a fine grain sandpaper.
What further makes it for me are the narrow perforated strips still intact on each side, bearing the copyright information.
Wow, what a great piece of toy history. Amazing that it has survived all these decades. A wonderful find.
ReplyDeleteHmmm... MMM! What a treasure!
ReplyDeleteI bet it's covered up beneath layers of wallpaper in some old houses! Great find Arto! I'd it Matt or Glossy? Ha ha
ReplyDeleteThat's a rare piece of space age toy ephemera. Well done Arto, so cool
