Further to this summer's Konga week I ended up with a few K2's after Peter Jackson's movie came out. There were eleven Peter Jackson's "Kong The 8th Wonder of The World" sets by Playmates.
Nine of the sets had Kong's that were about 6" high. The other two sets were a larger Roaring Kong and his nemesis, a Roaring T-Rex.
Then there were the Burger King tie-ins as well.
Enjoy!

The Farside cartoon says it all. I saw this movie version and it had none of the charm of the original. Having visited the Peter Jackson exhibit in NZ for his remake, Thunderbirds Are Go, I can report that the Skull Island model was repurposed for an episode of Thunderbirds Are Go.
ReplyDeleteAs photography was not allowed in the exhibits, I cannot show how it looked. It's claimed the original Thunderbirds was an inspiration for Jackson when he was a child.
So Peter Jackson made the modern Thunderbirds cartoon series Terran?
DeletePeter Jackson's company Weta Digital would produce Thunderbirds Are Go and technical support for Lord of the Rings and King Kong. He possibly was not directly involved other than it was his idea to revive Thunderbirds.
DeleteGreat toys Ed! Kong Rules! Have you got the Kong T.Rex set?
ReplyDeleteThanx Woodsy! I have the photos from them but sold off the toys years ago.
