Hello Moonbasers!
Our tour of Merrie Olde England is coming to an end. I got to visit the home town of my long departed Auntie.
While there, I looked in on Snooper's Paradise a combined antique shop unlike anything we have back home in Australia.
I bought a genuine Beatles guitar broach which the stall owner helpfully informed me had actually been in production, unchanged until 1981! I didn't care as that's still vintage and the price was a bargain compared to Aussie places.
I also bought a 1967 Man from Uncle Annual, at least partly because the art was so gloriously of it's period. Interestingly, the interior artist was credited as Edgar A Hodges, a name I'm not familiar with.
Also, there was an unrelated filler comic called "Jet Dream and her Stunt Girl Counterspies" which I'd never heard of either. It seems to be a female version of DC's Blackhawk, complete with similarly awful foreign accents!
Anyone else know of it?
There was also a 1976 Space 1999 Annual with Apollo era articles that looked like they had been swiped from a 60's space Annual -but I passed up on buying that one!
Still, nice memories of a lovely trip.
Chat to you again when I'm back in Oz,
cheers,
Looey
Ha! Snoopers Paradise! Yes! Me and the Missus went there too Looey! Years ago on a city break to Brighton. I bought a boxed Sindy kitchen unit for my vintage toy stall! You can see at the top of the shelving to the right on this snap pf me at a local fair in 2005!

DeleteLovely stuff Looey! Great to hear you had a good time. Did you get to visit the Brighton Toy & Model Museum?
ReplyDeleteNot this time, but last time I was over, I photographed it to within an inch of it's life! ...and the vintage penny arcade machines in the rooms beneath the Esplanade!
