Lovely Richard, I love the oil rig. So very Thunderbirds! Great work.
ReplyDeleteThese are amazing images!
ReplyDeleteThe mobile oil rig is ingenius and very 'Andersonesque'.
ReplyDeleteHi everyone ....thank you for your comments on my work....appreciate the comparison with Gerry Anderson's work....I followed all his series when I was younger...and I even met him when I was asked to take publicity images for an exhibition that was staged in Blackpool , Lancashire in the seventies....being close up to the miniatures of that exhibition I received a very informative insight into how a lot of the models used in the various series were made....so I guess some of all that really did make an impression on me....more of my images will appear on this website soon ....thanks again for your comments . ReplyDeleteI saw that exhibition.
ReplyDeleteI think it was called Space City and had models from all Gerry's space shows up to Space 1999.
You are correct it was "Space City" and it was on Blackpool's Golden Mile ....they tried to get some of the early models , but most of the miniatures came from UFO and Space 1999...including the feature length TV pilot Into Infinity that featured a large space station and deep space explorer type spaceship....all excellent models , a lot built by top model maker Martin Bower....I took about seventy images for EMI / ITC ....still have most of them....will hunt them out for Paul to show you all sometime soon...Richard Dixon TPD STUDIOS UK .
