First image....RSV One from the SEASTAR 5 lands on a Pacific Island Beach.....this particular shot came from a series of images created on "Cleveleys Beach , northwest Lancashire....it started out as a model animation location image.....then the tropical look was added by a very good Digital Artist on my team called Lee Richardson from Lancaster , Lancashire....the composite shot then went through a "paint program" which gave the vehicle its "dirty down" look .
Cleveleys Beach was used for the new Disney TV series "Star Wars - ANDOR where scenes were shot in 2021.....my SEASTAR 5 was there in 2014.....I filmed a lot of "Pacific Island " stuff on that beach...a great location to take pictures of miniatures - the sand is great after it has dried out once the tide has gone out !
Second image.....MIDAS ...SR90 HIGH ALTITUDE RECON AIRCRAFT....from SEASTAR 5 ......sunset , again from Cleveleys Beach location , this time just using the image of the sunset in the studio as a background screen for the model miniature....that started out with a front end SR71 Blackbird ....
Image Three....."The SEATRAK".....a large fully amphibious subcraft rescue vehicle with triple drilling capability , able to perform like a submarine and enter the cavern worlds below the ocean floor ....only on elf these is carried on the SEASTAR 5 .
Image Four......DSR1 TAURUS....FLYING SUBCRAFT...."flying over the reef"....and heading towards deeper water....a scene from SEASTASR 5 .
Hope you like them,

great work there Richard - especially putting Cleveleys back on the map ! IThere are some cool designs there and a good spread of different vehicles. Bill
ReplyDeleteThese are incredible! Bringing “Old School” SF vehicle designs into the digital age!
ReplyDeleteNice vehicle designs and good variety.
ReplyDeleteLovely Andersonesque designs brought to life Richard! Keep the flag flying. I used to go tot Cleveleys when I was a kid in Preston!
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone for your comments about my work...very much appreciate them....more images from me soon.....Richard Dixon TPD STUDIOS Lancashire .
ReplyDeleteLove the designs. Not sure if it's just me but I see a lot of the GIJoe/ActionMan yellow ATV in the RSV, especially if you look at the ATV from the rear instead of the front. Also love the 2 Cobra mole pods used on the Seatrak. The Seatrak looks influenced by the GI Joe RAH Avalanche snow tank. Great work though, some of the best designs I've seen in some time.
ReplyDeleteHi Lance.....Appreciate your comments....I often use parts and chassis from Action Man Range , together with GI Joe....The RSV does have a chassis from an ATV Action Man Toy ...the body is scratch built...you might find the odd bit of plastic in there from other kits....I try to do the body units as scratch built items and the influences in there very much is a nod to my past....I worked for Hasbro and Marvel Comics UK for over eight years....most of the Action Man , Action Force and GI Joe came through my studio for advertising photography....I even covered some of the American GI Joe stuff which was released across Europe ....will have to send some images over to Moonbase Central for you all to see in due course......Oh yes , just forgot Lance , you are correct about the Cobra mole pods....the SEATRAK body design has a lot of Avalanche ideas in there...I used the side panel designs as my starting point to create my own sides....the traks are modified from GI Joe with additional Tamiya parts ....thanks again for your comments....Richard Dixon TPD STUDIOS Lancashire .
