This impressive craft is a Galax by Testors, an amazing looking model plane, which I understand was gas powered, so is part of that mysterious branch of toy hobbydom, rocketry.
There's a strong hint of Stars Warsiness in the front cockpit unit would you agree?
Anyone had a Galax?
Pure Star Wars. If it has wings and a propeller, it is a model aeroplane, not a model rocket. These are usually powered by solid-fuel rocket motors, and are usually launched vertically - and that totally exhausts my knowledge of the subject.
ReplyDeleteI think it is a control line model. It flies, powered by a petrol engine. You stand, holding a wire and it flies around you, presumably beheading any and all who approach you! Terrifying.
ReplyDeleteLooks like its based on the Galaxy Runner from 'Message from Space' https://fantastic-plastic.com/GALAXY%20RUNNER%20PAGE.htm
ReplyDeleteGood call! I think you are right re: Galaxy Runner!
DeleteGreat info guys. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI have this model in its original packaging from 1979, not flown. It is a line control model. You can see it in action on You Tube.
