I agree with Arto Will, a rare things and thanks for sharing your glorious find, letter and all. I seem to recall a similar promotional letter in some James Bond Thunderball paperbacks, although I've never seen one in the flesh.
I remember a simular promotion for Shippam's Spreads, a competiton for Mattel's Major Matt Mason. I was especially intrigued by a mysterious picture of a blue suited astronaut who I'd never seen in the English shops. Some of you Moonbasers will probably know who he was. Long story short, I failed miserably in the competition, but many years later in Australia in the early 90s, I came across a nicely preserved example of this blue astronaut at a reasonable price.
The Shippam's Major Matt Mason competition page can be seen here: http://www.wildtoys.com/MMMPage/MMMBritish/UKChipBeef.asp
The astronaut in blue is Jeff Long: http://www.wildtoys.com/MMMPage/MattelPlaysets/6332.asp
As an aside, the MMM section of Wildtoys is currently being migrated to https://majormattmason.blogspot.com where the (relatively small) menu bar at the top duplicates the one on Wildtoys.
A rare promotion I would guess. Great to know that at least one letter has survived to this day in a pristine condition, along with the Dossier.
ReplyDeleteAnd now we have Joe's signature too!

DeleteWhat a great find. Very few of these would have survived, so it is great to see an example.
