Hot Wheels Batman 5-Pack

For some time now the Hot Wheels Mainline has included a Batman sub-series of five models. A mix of existing Batman models in new colours, and usually at least one new casting each year.

But these are not the only Batman models Hot Wheels produce. Sometimes there are special Batman models or sets in other ranges, such as the Color Shifters, Monster Trucks, or Replica Entertainment. Then there are the 5-Packs.

The 5-Packs are a range of boxed sets, each containing five Hot Wheels Mainline models, linked by a common theme. In recent years a Batman set has been a regular part of the series.

The exact contents vary, but generally each 5-Pack contains one or two genuine Bat-vehicles, a Gotham City Police car, and one or two Villain Cars decorated with wild graphics depicting major Batman villains.

In some cases the Batman models are the same as those available individually on cards, others come in different colours. However, the Gotham Police cars and Villain Cars are unique to these sets, and are not available on their own. If you come across any of these models loose, it is certain they came from one of these sets.

Some of these packs are generic Batman sets, others are tied-in to the latest Batman movie. Most are simply labelled Batman, despite the contents varying from year to year.

This 5-Pack is from the 2021 range, although the copyright date on the back of the window box is 2020. The models sit in a clear plastic tray. Only in the last few years have Hot Wheels included a list of the vehicle types in their 5-Packs, on the back of the box. This makes identification much easier.

1. '11 Dodge Charger R/T, White Police car marked Metropolis, not Gotham City.
2. Batcopter - Black, with yellow plastic parts, and a silver-grey main rotor.
3. The Dark Knight Batmobile - Dark blue.
4. Bedlam - HW fantasy design pick-up truck. Purple, with green diamonds, and The Joker on the side.
5. Velocita - Another HW fantasy design. White, with red and black markings, and the name Harley Quinn on the nose.
