Another day out moochin' with the Missus in North Yorkshire town Selby's charity vintage aisles yesterday. See what you think.
Anything you fancy?
Unknown large beige ape. Is he Kong?
Meccano Highway Vehicle Set
Striker football game with extra boxed teams. £40!
A rubber Noddy with pals and old Ladybirds at £1 each
Crackerjack Annual 1978. I was 17 that year and no longer watched the great 5 to 5 Crackerjack. Not sure I watched telly at all in 1978 onwards for a few years. My head was full of rock.
And by comparison some brand new stuff in a modern department store's toy floor in the same town.
Anything you like?
The new White Dwarf magazine. I remember buying a really early one of these mags, with a line drawing on the cover, when it first came out. Alas, its gone walkies. I love the title on this one, the Waaagh! surges South! What's a Waaagh?
Dungeons and Dragons Essentials Kit. I love the artwork. Reminds me of the old Brothers Hildebrandt Lord of the Rings illustrations.
Actual cap guns! The one bottom left is a toy agent pistol with silencer!
Goo Ju Zu, whatever that is and tons of boxed Playmobil sets. All very dear!
Star Wars, cars and the Joker!
and a bit of deadstock up top. Wrestlemania's Trish Stratus bubble carded figure was 11 years old!
Have you got a toy shop near you? Ever go in?
Although not a football or sports fan, I have an identical boxed Parker Striker football game from the '70s. It's simple nostalgic fun to play once in a while and features a nice period box illustration. Another enjoyable Moochin' article, Woodsy.
ReplyDeleteTa Tone. We do enjoy moochin more than anything! Strikers a great game yes. It never knocked Subuteo of its perch but a great idea.
DeleteThe Backyard Safari Adventures Animal Caller, with 5 Animal Sounds, looks interesting. I have not seen one of these before. I have seen the bagged toy animals, or very similar sets, here in NZ.
ReplyDeleteWhere's that then Paul?
DeleteHow much was that beige ape?
ReplyDeleteI just used the Somewhat reliable Google Lens and discovered it's something called Mega George... (never heard of it!)
https://www.amazon.com.au/Rampage-The-Movie-Mega-George/dp/B07962N8PZ
But Blimey! Look at that asking price!
George! Of course! I love Rampage. Big monsters! Looks like it was £3.99.
Delete'Rampage' was quite a good film, starring the Rock. My first thought was 'Congo', but the apes are the usual silverbacks. Didn't realise White dwaaf was still going!
ReplyDeleteWish I could find my original 70's White Dwarf mag!
DeletePoor thing had the Kongpox
