I have this in my picture archive but |I'm unsure why apart from it being fantastic artwork. I've labelled it Hakes so at some point it was auctioned in America.
What, with the cyclops and the dinosaur, is it Aurora box art?
The cyclops is not the actual box art but is heavily influenced by it. There's at least 3 versions of the box art with this being close to your pic https://www.culttvmanshop.com/assets/images/dhgcyclos01.jpg
Not seeing anything close for the dino but it does make me think of the "dragons" from Jonny Quest.
Just found it on Hakes - they're targets from a Mattel Lost in Space Switch N Go set. https://www.hakes.com/Auction/ItemDetail/81018/LOST-IN-SPACE-SWITCH-N-GO-RARE-TOY Impressive play set in impressive condition!
Oh Wow! Thanks Paul, you've cracked it. The Lost In Space Switch N Go set by Mattel, the stuff of dreams! It really is fabulous artwork and must have been amazing to see on the set fully constructed. I've certainly never seen one in the flesh. They may not have made it to the UK.
Don't know what it's from, or for, but I love it Woodsy.
ReplyDeleteLooks like box art for US candy bars. Maybe chews or sweet cigarettes.
They would be bars I want Mish! I used to collect wrappers BTW! ha ha. A true magpie.

Fab ideas Lance. Lost in Space seems to be bang on target.

DeleteGreat detective work Paul. That's really quite a toy. Pricey though, I expect.
