It is with indescribable sadness that I have to report the passing of our old family dog Blue.
Our beautiful boy was put to sleep this morning to prevent him suffering from cancer.
Blue was officially the Moonbase mutt and readers may have enjoyed some of his appearances here over the years.
It's easy for me to say that Blue helped me create this blog, giving me ideas whilst playing catch with him in the local fields back in summer 2008.
We will miss him more than words can say.
So sorry to read this, Woodsy, a lovely pooch, my sympathies.:(
ReplyDeleteI am really saddened to hear about this. I've been through the same situation myself and can imagine how you must feel. My heartfelt condolences to you and yours.
ReplyDeleteTerribly sorry to hear that.
ReplyDeleteSaddened to hear this news. My dog also had to be put to sleep in 2021. I still think about him everyday.
ReplyDeleteSorry to read such sad news Woodsy, they get under our skin, don't they . . . comfort yourselves with the absolute fact you gave him a good life in a cruel world.
ReplyDeleteMy deepest condolences for your loss. Glimpses of Blue on your blog posts were always a source of special joy. He had a great life and will be remembered as a vital part of the Moonbase crew.
ReplyDeleteWe lost our first cat to cancer (he too had to be put down when the tumours became too much), so sympathise very much.
ReplyDeleteSad news indeed Woodsy.
Thanks everyone. I appreciate it a great deal. It's very raw at the moment. Sixteen years is a long time with a dog and Blue was really really lovely. He loved people and helped my family through some tough times.
ReplyDeleteI am so sorry for your loss. We lost two cats over the years, who also had to be put down. Junior, black and white; and Ceefer, all black. They are always there, to help you through the days. Still miss them both. Regards to all the family. Take care.
ReplyDeleteSo sad to read this! Blue was always a special part of the moonbase family. Our hearts go out to you and your family, Woodsy.
ReplyDeleteHe's exploring The Great Beyond with bright eyes and a keen sniffer.God Speed,Blue
ReplyDeleteThanks everyone. I am very grateful for your kind words. Dogs are like human friends and it's true grief when they go.
ReplyDeleteDogs are special, it's probably true that all dogs go to heaven. You only have to live with one to know they have an intelligence and individuality beyond what is generally considered an "animal" .
ReplyDeleteOur sympathies for your loss.
I'm so very sorry to read this. These beautiful an innocent souls are our companions and part of our family. Its been fifteen years, but I still miss our Big old Tomcat Rizla, who was such a kind and loving chap.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing we found to do to cope was to adopt one from a rescue centre and love them in the name of the one you lost.
Our thoughts are with you.
Very sorry to read about your loss, Paul. Deepest sympathies and I too know what it's like. I'm sure he's left lots of good memories to remember him by. Very best wishes -- Paul
ReplyDeleteSorry to hear this. I know how a pet, particularly one that has been with you for so long, (and we lost one after 17 years) can leave a great loss.
ReplyDeleteI'm very sorry. I know how you feel. We've lost a lot of good companions over the years.
ReplyDelete"I explained to Saint Peter
I 'd rather stay here
Outside the pearly gates
I wont be a nuisance,
I won't even bark,
I'll be very patient and wait.
I'll be here, chewing on a celestial bone,
No matter how long you may be
I'd miss you so much
If I went in alone
It wouldn't be heaven for me."
Thank you again everyone, it means a lot to me and the Missus at this time. I wonder if dogs know how much we love them?
ReplyDeleteYes.
ReplyDeleteThey know.
They know.
