Here's a few more photos from Smallspace 9, that took place last Sunday in the village of Hanslope, Bucks.
There was plenty of excellent models on display and just six hours to capture as many images of them as I could, as well as meet up and chat with old friends and make a few new ones too!
There was also some special guests from the special effects industry:
Steve Begg brought a couple of original props: A spacecraft from Space Precinct, and a truck from Casino Royale.
Lee Stringer brought along a model of the Narcissus from Alien.
Steve Begg, who started out on Terrahawks, and has gone on to work on several James Bond films, Aliens, Batman, Lost in Space, and Kingsman: The Secret Service.
Chrissie Overs, who's worked on Aliens, Flash Gordon, Dune, Goldeneye, Lost in Space, Prometheus, and Krull.
Lee Stringer, who's worked on Star Trek: The Motion Picture, Iron Sky, Battlestar Galactica, Firefly, The New Captain Scarlet, and Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future.
Chris Trice, who's worked on Doctor Who, Wizards vs Aliens, Red Dwarf, Casino Royale, The Martian, Lost in Space, Aliens vs Predator, and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy.

Another master modeller, Richard 'It's an Ashton' Ashton attended, and had a few items on display.
Puppet re-creations from Gerry & Sylvia Anderson's TV series:
Some movie monster kits |
You couldn't have a Smallspace without a few Blake's 7 items on display:
This model of the Space Princess built by Bill Pearson was particularly impressive.
The infamous hairdryer spaceship, with added R2-D2!The day went very well. It was great to meet up in person with on-line friends like Chris Rogerson, Tony Freeman, Richard Ashton and to some degree, Steve Begg, Being collared by Rocky Marshall was certainly a highlight too.
Great photos, and thanks for the information on each. I was there and posted a lot of photos on the Smallspace Facebook page, but I wasn't very good at noting what was what, and who it was by. My first such show, I hope there are more in future.
ReplyDeleteThanks kittenpurse, yes, it was a good event, and I'm sure there'll be a Smallspace 10, next year from Paul and Mat.
DeleteNow I am intrigued. What Dan Dare: Pilot of the Future did Lee Stringer work on?
ReplyDeleteThe CGI series, Terra
DeleteI only viewed a couple of episodes of that and do not recall any models.
DeleteIt's CGI , Terra, all digital.
DeleteGreat photos and great models!
ReplyDeleteCheers Kev. You've been to one if I remember rightly.
DeleteYep, the one with the Whomobile. I'd love to go to more but it's a long way and I'm not a big fan of driving.
DeleteI hope someone does this as a model

Looks like a fab day out Scoop! Beautiful models. Labours of love.
ReplyDeleteAn excellent day, Woodsy, there's some very talented folk out there.
DeleteWow, what an amazing example of the art of modeling, top notch all the way!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely Zigg.!
DeleteI'm gobsmacked! Not only beautiful model work, but the bodies of work amassed by the guests is very impressive too!
ReplyDeleteSometimes I regret no longer living in England!
Talking to Steve and Chrissie they both reckon that there's currently a lot of SFX work currently, which is down to all the streaming channels. Probably mostly digital though, but still room for the occasional real prop.
DeleteThanks, great to see.
ReplyDeleteHappy to share, Andy.
DeleteA fun day with a great variety of guests, modellers and exhibitors.
ReplyDeleteIt was so well attended, the caterers totally sold out of burgers, sausages and bacon. I literally got the last sausage !
They pretty much sold out of cold drinks too, Mish, my mate got the last Coke!
DeleteHey Mike,
ReplyDeleteI just noticed some of your photos on the "Monsters In Motion". They're selling 5.5 inch Eagles, and some of your photos are being used to illustrate the toys.
Great Work!
Thanks. Yeah, M.i M are one of Sixteen 12's official American sellers, and use the photos with permission from their website which I originally supplied, so it's all above board.
DeleteGood. I figured as much. Just wanted to make sure.
