The Moonbase loft ladder collapsed today with me on it! I didn't half land with a bang and I spilled across the landing flat on my back into the bathroom!
I'm OK but my foot's dead sore. No slam dancin' in the mosh pit for me for a bit!
Have you ever fallen off a ladder or out of the loft or even through the loft ceiling readers?
You're very lucky it wasn't serious, I hope you have a speedy recovery, a mate of mine was paralysed after a ladder spun around and he fell 30 feet, after the compensation paid out he bought a swanky house with a big garden to host parties rather than struggling to fit himself and a wheelchair into venues, the club house was named Moose Lodge (named after a local community hall that my peers had a legendary club night that resulted in the bar being drunk dry and people passing out on the road only to be woken by the morning rush hour) above the door was a plaque with the phrase "Stick your ladders where the sun doesn't shine" written in Latin ( originally it was supposed to say stick your ladders up your arse but that didn't quite work in Latin.
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about your mate MJ. Sounds terrible. I'm just sore everywhere and I'll need a new loft ladder!
DeleteSheesh! Glad you're okay.
ReplyDeleteLast October, a friend of mine was working on his roof and fell off a ladder, face first onto a concrete sidewalk. It literally crushed his face in. Last month he finally came back to work, and I'm utterly amazed they were able to repair the skull damage. I think his appearance is changed more from the fact that he lost 20 pounds (having his jaw wired shut.)
Anyway, Say a prayer, or thank your lucky stars, I'm just glad you're okay.
I'm on blood thinners, so falls would be serious for me.
Thanks Scott. Your friend's accident sounds utterly dreadful. I"m glad he's back in the world. I'll just be bruised for while.
DeleteWow. Glad you survived, but it may be a good idea to have that foot looked at. Something might have been broken or damaged. I have not fallen off any ladders. I do not like heights, and this is why. Ground level for me.
ReplyDeleteThanks Paul. It was a dramatic ladder collapse but I think I'll be OK. I reckon my foot is badly bruised. I'll keep an eye on it.
