Well, on Youtube, 'Leicester Vintage Toy Shop on Tour' feature both of these shops in Episode 10. This is a far better review than I produced for the blog and well worth a watch for anyone into vintage toys. There's some cracking toys to be seen. Link below... hope you like it.

That was really interesting. At 21:45 there were a pair of Johnny Seven One Man Army rifles, one in a Topper Toys box, and one in a Meccano Tri-ang box. Loved seeing the Honey West box. However, I am afraid the prices were rather out of my league.
ReplyDeleteHi Paul, Yep, sadly for the collector, vintage toys seem to command high prices. That's why I loved ebay in the very early days. It was a time when collectors could win auctions and get vintage toys at good prices. I do miss those exciting ebay auction days/nights.
DeleteHave been to Metropolis Toys in Warwick. Got a good deal on the 1960s Zeriod robot, Zerak. It's a fabulous place, but you do need deep pockets.
ReplyDeleteHi Mish, Glad that you got a good deal from Metropolis on Zarek.
DeleteZarek... I mean Zerak... Oh, I need my specs.
DeleteFab reviews Tony and thanks for sharing. I've not been to either shop but I have seen the sellers' excellent toy stands at toy fairs in the past.
ReplyDeleteYou're very welcome Woodsy. I thought you would've seen their toy fair stall from your time as a dealer. I haven't been to a toy fair in over 15 years. I do miss them.
ReplyDeleteYes, pros like these guys, along with the late great Jim Stevenson and Andy Foley's TV Toy Zone had toy stalls to die for and always inspired me to try to find more better and more interesting toys for my own meagre table Tone!
