I've just watched Evolution on the festive telly box. From 2001, you know the one, a big hole in the desert where alien thingies start to multiply and ooze.
Because David Duchovny's in it I thought the beginning included a scientist being imprisoned in the hole because he's infected but I realised early on that that's far too gruesome for Evolution, which is a comedy after all. I was thinking of that other remote hole full of monsters starring Duchovny, X-Files The Movie.
So, course re-set I enjoyed Evolution once again and had a revelation. Its cast and the storyline are more or less the same as Ghostbusters from 1984! Its got a team of nerdy guys, a beautiful lady [Julianne Moore, my dream girl!], a vehicle and lots and lots of slime. Dan Akroyd's even in it!
To test my theory I looked up the film on Wiki. Lo and behold, I was right! Its an Ivan Reitman flick and Ivan said that Evolution was the sequel to Ghostbusters he always wanted to make! How cool is that!
So, twenty years old now since it first splodged onto the big screen, do you like Evolution? Did it spawn any toys I wonder?
