As always the Missus and me will get each other a book at Christmas. Each orders a book that the other wants.
The Missus wants UK comedian Bob Mortimer's autobiography And Away and I want a book on Superfast.
Needing to be inexpensive I've seen this softback book by Charlie Mack online and wondered if anyone has it already?
I want lots of colour photographs of the toys but can't tell if this one has them. It's also a Schiffer book from the USA. Will there be UK Superfast toys not covered do you think?
Any advice would be welcomed before I send the Missus the link.
I'd swerve it, as it looks like one of those dreary self-published books, which are full of lists and black and white photos. I'm sure there are other books available on Amazon?
ReplyDeleteIts published by Schiffer so its a real book. There aren't many books on Superfast.
DeleteIt is certainly not self published. Schiffer is one of the top US publishers of reference books on models and toys. I do not have this exact book, but I do have several others in the same series, by the same author. All very good. This one says The Super Fast Years 1969-1982, so it only goes up to 1982, and the end of the original Lesney company, after which the Matchbox name changed hands several times. Size is 9 in x 6 in. Thickness varies. After a brief history, the first half comprises colour photos of the models lined up on glass shelves, then listings of the models and variations. With catalogue numbers, release date, length. I will send you some photos of one that I do have to give you an idea of what the books are like. There is also one by Dr. Edward Force on Corgi Toys, which includes the Corgi Juniors.
