Its the Tandy Mars Explorer repackaged. Nice thing, but the basic model has been copied and rebadged so many times, its dizzying. Even the BHS toys weren't original!
The BHS toys originated from a line of all terrain toys that appeared from China. No particular brand, but the sort of thing that you could buy at seaside shops in counter top boxes. Then Terrence Conran saw a gap in the market following the success of Empire Strikes Back and decided to repackage and redesign the basic model. The Woolies Explorer III probably turned up after E12 faded from the shelves, a bit like the unrealease Airfix Captain Eagle tank that was issued by St Michael.

ReplyDeleteCheers Wote. Are the BHS toys based on Explorer III?
