Taking a break from my usual posts, here's a few photos I took while on a recent visit to the historic city of Chester, which I know, at least one of our readers resides there!
We stayed in Room 8 at The Pied Bull, a place described as the oldest licenced pub in the city, with parts of the building dating back to 1155!
Unsurprisingly, the place is haunted. One ghost resides in the cellar, usually reading a newspaper; the other is a chambermaid who is known to frequent Room 8!
I love the spooky alleys, like something from The Avengers, not the tiresome superhero films, I mean the far superior 60's TV Series!
Historic points of interest along the castle wall walk. Here King Charles stood on this tower in 1645, and saw his army defeated on Rowton Moor during the English Civil War.
Chester Cathedral: An historical point of interest for me as I watched a concert by prog rock band, Jethro Tull there last year!
Although the city is full of historic attractions, a Roman amphitheatre the 'Rows' shopping district with the usual shops and pubs, including a well stocked model shop, my wife and I love enjoying the nearby country walks by the River Dee.
Chester eh? Well it's alright I suppose. You should've dropped by!
