Woodsy,
A while ago you blogged about "The X from Outer Space". Today I received this amongst the packing papers in a ebay purchase (seller sells alot of horikawa robots etc).
I have no idea how old it is or what its meant to be used for. Approx 3 1/2" (90mm) diameter with a couple of small notches, thin card. The back has some Japanese writing crossed out.
The 77777275 is too short for a modern phone no (japan has 10 digits) unless the prefix is missing. I'm baffled- any of your readers got a clue? Drinks coaster????
Timmy Toad
The monster is Guilala, a Kaiju monster sent to Earth by unknown aliens to drain it's energy.
ReplyDeleteIt comes from the film you mentioned, The X From Outer Space, made in 1967.
I'm guessing the disc is a card or token from some sort of board game, or bubble gum type collectors set.
The numbers on it could denote its collectable value or points worth in the game or collection, like Pokemon cards etc.
Thanks for pointing me in the right direction MISH. After alot of googling "if you think I'm gonna show you what you want, have another think", I've found out that its a Japanese Menko card. Whilst its nice art-wise, its not the sort of thing I really want, so if any of you wants it (free, of course, as it didn't cost me anything) lemmee know.
