I noticed the beat-up old Dinky FAB1 in this lot over at online Lancashire Auctions this weekend and thought, blimey, can something like that be returned to its former glory?
I used to replace the odd part on old FAB1's - maybe some new repro missiles and figures and a box - but nothing like this or these bad Ladies on You Tube!
Have a nosey parker at these!

and my own personal favourite, the prolific and jovial Bob Willis' half hour shed restoration https://youtu.be/m2xn06Q8gXQ . I like Bob's Penelope pink the most!
Which restoration do you like the most readers?
Have you got a FAB1 at all? Have you restored one in any way?
I made a new canopy for my rosenthal Fab1. I carved the shape in balsa and heat formed a clear acetate sheet over it.
ReplyDeleteYea! Old School skills are best!
DeleteI just 3D drew and 3D printed a replacement head antenna for an old robot, but apart from the precision, I find the new ways less "fun"!
I have a lovely old Imai model of the FAB-1, and the pink plastic was so pretty, I did not even paint it!
ReplyDeleteYou guys are so talented! I'm thinking of cutting a clear plastic salad spoon head off to make a canopy! ha ha.
